Blaylock Design and Build is a small family-owned and operated residential construction company providing comprehensive design-build services to the entire Northern Virginia region. We specialize in custom homes, small and large-scale additions, entire home renovations, as well as kitchen and bath remodeling. Blaylock Design and Build’s success and strong referral base evolved from a focus on effective communication, financial responsibility, adaptability and hands-on management.
Established in 2005, founder Kyle Blaylock set out to create a home design-build company that fostered a partnership with clients while delivering innovative thinking and quality craftsmanship from concept to completion. As a design-build company, we offer a single point of accountability ensuring a seamless, cost effective experience.
Our in-house licensed architect and kitchen designer blend form and function to deliver a cohesive design that meets client’s needs and expresses their vision. If you already have architectural plans, we welcome the opportunity to work with you and offer our expertise as a builder. Our team also includes project managers and foremen who are on-site each day. We take pride in the network of professional subcontractors that we employ and have worked with since our inception. Each team member is valued for exceptional workmanship, integrity and drive for client satisfaction.
Compared to other companies, Blaylock Design and Build’s workload is relatively small, managing only 4 to 6 projects at any given time. This enables us to not overbook and allows us to provide the personal attention that we take pride in. We are proactive when scheduling projects which allows us to anticipate and plan for delays (i.e. delivery of special orders/materials, inclement weather) and ultimately finish the project on-time, on-budget and to specification. We value the partnership that is formed with each client in the process of creating a home that is more enjoyable and functional for them, their family and friends.
Our Process
The choice of a design-build company is an important decision that should be based on many factors. Blaylock Design and Build believes in creating a successful relationship with collaborative partnerships built on trust and communication while providing quality craftsmanship and excellent customer service. The steps in our process are:
- Consultation and Planning
We meet to discuss your needs, expectations, budget, and timeline. - Design and Review
Based on the initial on-site consultation, we develop a design plan or finalize one provided to us. - Proposal, Budget and Materials
Once the scope of work has been established, we provide a proposal with an estimate of costs and a list of inclusions and exclusions. After final client approval and any necessary changes, we generate a contract that details the project scope, start and end dates, and a payment schedule based on the phases of project completion. We also take care of all necessary permits. - Construction/Building Phase
Throughout the project we provide updates on the progress and meet regularly with the client to ensure we are meeting your expectations. Any changes will be estimated and submitted for approval prior to any work. - Punch List and Completion
After all phases of the project are finished we complete a walk-through punch list with the client.
